Our Top Ten...

Plant Care Product:  Repellex

Repellex spray is made from dried blood meal, garlic, cinnamon and other natural ingredients. It is a topical spray designed to stick to leafy and woody surfaces which creates a protective coating around your plants. The scent and taste are a deterrent to deer. One application lasts up to 90 days. Repellex Systemic Granular Tablets delivers a hot pepper concentrate through plant roots at the molecular level, making the plants inedible to animals. Because the active compound is taken up and inside the plant cells, it doesn’t wash off in the rain or degrade in sunlight. Thoroughly spray plants with Repellex early in the growing season and every 3 months thereafter until
the growing season ends. One treatment of the Systemic Granular Tablets lasts the entire growing season. Apply early in the growing season. Because it takes a while for the plant to take up Repellex Systemic Granular Tablets, use the Repellex spray in the interim for best protection. When using Repellex ready-to-use spray, make sure to coat all plant surfaces.
For Repellex in concentrated form, follow label instructions for making a ready-to-use solution. Repellex Systemic Granular is applied at the rate of 1 scoop (pre-measured scoop is included) per square foot; rake into the soil. Repellex Systemic Granular is not intended for use on edible plants. Always read and follow all label directions on product.

 Artist Profile...
Barb Dixon-Jobin Artwork

Art in the Garden Featured Artist

On August 4th the first annual "Art in the Garden" will take place. One of the artist scheduled to exhibit is Barb Dixon-Jobin.  Her beautiful paintings on screen are displayed now in our gift shop special section for participating artists.  Here is more about Barb and her work.

"The art of Painted Window Screens began in Baltimore, Maryland in the early 1900's.  A grocer wanting to advertise fresh fruit painted on the window screen. He then painted window screens for customers, some of which have survived among the rowhouses of Baltimore.  The art was revived in the 1980's.  After my neighbor in Minneapolis sent her screen door off to be painted, I was introduced to the art of screen painting and I've been painting them for the past 12 years.  My husband and I enjoy time in Wisconsin and California. I have had a "lifestyle" shop in Wisconsin for 13 years and have focused on selling antiques, recycled goods, artisan creations and cabin adornments that my husband and I make.  We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have this lifestyle and to work in two such beautiful places.  I believe that anytime ART can be married with UTILITY it is a combination of two of mankind's best inventions.  Painting on window and door screens is an example of that marriage and is what inspires me to pursue this unusual art form. Or as I like to say....It's art in the crosshairs!"
