 Color Your Garden...

Sun Combination July/August

Shade Combination July/August

Perennial Combinations for Sun and Shade:

Your garden can provide plenty of color throughout the summer months. Color your garden by designing with a perennial bloom time between July and August.  Perennial plants can be low maintenance, big bloomers and add great textural interest in the landscape.  A colorful summer palette can be created in the sun or shade using perennials selected for foliage, flower and impact.  Here is just one suggestion for a sun and shade perennial combination.

Sun Combination:

Echinacea, Daylily Yellow and Perovskia, Low

Shade Combination:

Astilbe Pink, Hosta 'Sum & Substance' (Hosta 2004), and Ligularia 'Bottle Rocket'

Peggy Ingles Art

Art in the Garden Featured Artist

On August 4th the first annual "Art in the Garden" will take place. One of the artist scheduled to exhibit is Peggy Ingles.  Her colorful mosaic art pieces are displayed in our gift shop special section for participating artists.  Here is more about Peggy and her work.

"I have always enjoyed making things, sewing, knitting, all sorts of crafty things to keep my hands busy.  Eighteen years ago after moving to Danbury from the Twin Cities, I found mosaics on HGTV.  Needing a job, I learned and experimented with glass and brought the mosaic class idea to community education classes all over the Twin Citites and northern Wisconsin Areas.  My husband and I have had a great time sharing mosaic arts with hundreds and maybe thousands of people.  Four years ago I became a Glassy Lady in Hayward (and now Cable) joining two other ladies who also work with glass.  I love creating mosaics to sell and especially enjoy teaching people this technique and watching as their creativity comes out to make their own beautiful mosaic art.  I have classes at Glassy Lady in Cable and Winter Community Education.  I hope everyone will give it a try and have a really fun time."
