Display in the "Display Garden"

This is the time of year that our display gardens show off the most color.  The colors, textures and aromas can be found in all areas of the garden.  Be sure to give yourself time to walk through the display garden when you visit. It can be a great way to discover a new plant or an idea to take back home with you for your own garden.

We also have drone videos from high above of the extraordinary beauty of the area we live in, as well as a surprisingly colorful garden in the middle of the woodland landscape.  Enjoy these video clips.

 Color Your Garden...

Shade Combination July/August

Sun Combination July/August

Perennial Combinations for Sun and Shade:

Your garden can provide plenty of color throughout the summer months. Color your garden by designing with a perennial bloom time between July and August.  A shady yard can be a gorgeous yard!  The shapes, colors and textures in a shade garden can become the creation of a favorite garden space.  Many types of plants prefer more sun than shade including certain trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals.  A full shade garden location is considered to have four or less hours of direct sunlight.  Partial shade is less than four to six hours of filtered or direct sunlight.  Remember that afternoon sun is much more intense than morning sun and many shade loving plants can tolerate a limited amount of morning sunlight.

 Artist Profile...
Vic Rouleau Metal Art

Art in the Garden Featured Artist

On August 4th the first annual "Art in the Garden" will take place. One of the artist scheduled to exhibit is Vic Rouleau.  His unique metal art pieces are displayed in our gift shop special section for participating artists.  Here is more about Vic and his work.

"I have been creating these pieces for ten years.  It all started from watching a hunting video.  I created the life size, white tail deer target, which was used for practice in the video,  all from barbed wire. My work has taken off from there!  It is as much fun finding the scrap metal/items as it is to design and make them.  My studio is located on Highway 27, North of Lake Holcombe about two miles and can be found on face book."
