Plant 'Lucerne' in well-draining soil, and then ensure that it stays moist but not overly wet. Larger plants should not be allowed to crowd it out, as Blue-Eyed Grass loves ample sunshine each day. Once bloom time has ended, shear the plant if you desire to keep it in control, or let it go to seed for self-sowing (not vigorous self-sowing in this case). Every few years, divide each clump by separating the rhizomes. 

Stare into these blue eyes, and you are sure to fall in love! This Blue-Eyed Grass opens up in violet-blue flowers each May and June, on low-growing clumps of thin grasslike foliage that springs from rhizomes. While most Blue-Eyed Grass is known for its tiny terminal flowers, 'Lucerne' has more visible blooms in the most calming color. Blooms appear late in spring and continue through the very start of summer, with good deer resistance.
