Plant in soil that is rich in humus, with good drainage. This plant loves sun, so be sure taller plants will not shade it excessively. Once established, it can handle heat well and can tolerate some salt. When bloom time has ended, you may choose to shear the plant a bit, to keep it tidy and to encourage a possible second (though lesser) round of blooms.

You'll cover lots of ground with this one. Creeping Phlox is one of the most flower-filled ground cover options, lighting up the garden bed from the bottom up with beautiful colors. And speaking of colors, 'Candy Stripe' offers a sweet mix. Each of the six petals on each bloom is white with a candy-pink central stripe. The blooms are very petite, but they appear in great number to blanket the plant's dark green foliage which hugs the ground well. And worry not: Despite the "candy" reference in its name, deer will not want to sample the sweet-looking flowers and foliage of 'Candy Stripe'.
