Water this plant only when the top inches of soil become dry. This plant may undergo a dormancy if temperatures and light dip significantly. If you notice a slowing of its growth, keep it in a cool location and hold back on the water even more than usual. Then return it to slightly brighter light, warmer temperatures, and more regular watering. Note that this plant appreciates humidity. You may want to mist the air around it, or let it sit on a pebble-tray with water to increase humidity.

You can be the first on the block to have this plant. Its leaves are large and oval, greenish-black and reddish in tone. In the right light, the leaves look metallic, and their sheer size gets them noticed. Undersides are purple. Pets should not nibble this plant, so place it in a spot where they will not reach it. Each leaf is divided by prominent, deep veins which remain greenish black. Around the veins, the thick and somewhat shiny leaves “bubble up” to show off pinkish red tones. It is no "myth": This plant is a special one.
