This plant prefers well-drained soil. Soil is well-drained when it allows water to drain through it at a moderate rate, without pooling. Allow the soil to become visibly dry before watering.

Lavender is easy to care for, heat-tolerant, and manages occasional drought quite well. It loves the sun, so pinpoint an area in your garden (such as a border, container, or raised bed) that receives lots of light. If you live in a cold area, you can relocate lavender indoors until the warmer months return. Expect your lavender to reach 2' or even 4' in height (flowering).

There might be no more versatile and pleasant herb than lavender. Lavandula angustifolia, Goodwin Creek, Herb Lavender is one of our favorite varieties.
