Even weekly watering may be too much for this tree, especially once it gets established. Let it acclimate to its surroundings for several months before you fertilize it. At that point, you can add a high-quality liquid fertilizer. If you plan to use the foliage for cooking, be extemely selective in the type of plant food you use. For a fuller, bushier look to this tree, in its earliest years, remove a few inches of growth from time to time. (This tree can be grown indoors if kept small by trimming; just keep in mind that, outdoors, it gets quite large.)
