While in bloom, this plant likes to be fed every two weeks with diluted liquid fertilizer. It does best in slightly acidic soil, and it likes humidity. Daily misting is helpful, but only with lukewarm water. Water regularly, and do not let the top of the soil dry out between waterings. Take care not to wet the waxy leaves.

This plant will delight, with blooms resembling reddish-orange goldfish. The blooms’ shape gives the impression that the fish are actually swimming. To promote flowering, be sure the plant is getting enough bright indirect light each day. When not in bloom, its tapered oval leaves will catch your eye. Leaves are thick, with a waxy shine and a prominent crease which runs lengthwise along the centerline of the leaf. The underside of each leaf has a wide and painterly line of dark red in the center, bordered by green margins.
