This plant prefers well-drained soil. Soil is well-drained when it allows water to drain through it at a moderate rate, without pooling. Allow the soil to become visibly dry before watering.

Fertilize this easy-to-grow plant in spring and summer, just twice per year. It can be trimmed as needed throughout the growing season. 

This is an attractive low-growing plant originating from South Africa's arid subtropics. A perennial, it will form a mat with clumps of flowers springing from a woody base. This creeping, hanging succulent is decorated with soft, fleshy, cream-edged leaves. Small, deep-rose flowers grow on this Ice Plant all season long. They will stay open during the day. Use it in the miniature garden, in combinations, troughs, rock gardens, or as a skirt plant for hanging over the edge of the container.
