Portulaca is a hummingbird magnet, and the bright patterning on the petals of the Seaglass Watermelon Punch variety is sure to make it even more “magnetic”. Blooms show off broad near-stripes of magenta, pink, and yellow. The flowers' cup shape and centers cause them to be reminiscent of old-fashioned single roses. Blooms appear all year in the right climate, or when Portulaca is kept as a houseplant. Foliage is succulent and fleshy, tolerating heat well and never looking tired and droopy. Let this heavy bloomer trail from hanging baskets or spread out along the ground. Just be sure pets will not chew on Portulaca, as it is not healthy for them.
